While the permanent astronomical exhibition is free to explore, planetarium shows and guided tours require a paid ticket, usually costing around 6.50 Euro per person for standard shows. The facility is typically open from Wednesday to Sunday, remaining closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. It offers a variety of shows in both German and English, making it a globally accessible destination for science enthusiasts. Facilities include a cloakroom, limited lockers requiring a 1 or 2 Euro coin deposit, and a small shop for space-themed souvenirs.

Booking in advance is highly recommended because planetarium shows often sell out weeks ahead, especially during weekends and school holidays. If you plan to watch a show in English, check the schedule carefully as they are usually held at specific times or once a day. For German-language shows, the reception provides a limited number of headsets for English translation. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and while the exhibition is family-friendly, the planetarium is best suited for children aged 4 and older. Remember that late entry to the planetarium is strictly prohibited once the doors close.

Reaching the center from central Munich is straightforward using public transportation. The most efficient route is taking the U6 subway line towards Garching-Forschungszentrum. You should stay on the train until the very last stop. From the station exit, it is a short, well-signposted four-minute walk to the futuristic building. If you are driving from the city, take the A9 motorway and exit at Garching-Nord. While there is free parking available on-site, spaces are limited and often fill up early, so using the U-Bahn is generally the stress-free choice for holidaymakers.
