Sangumburi Crater

Sangumburi is located in Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, South Korea. The crater is open year-round with seasonal variations in hours, typically from around 9:00 AM to 6:40 PM in spring and fall, and slightly shorter hours in winter and summer. Admission fees are moderate, with adults paying approximately ₩6,000 and children or teens around ₩4,000–₩6,000. Visitors can find parking and restrooms at the site, and there are small shaded areas to rest as well as local cafés nearby. It is an accessible attraction that offers easy walking paths around the rim for gentle hikes and scenic views.

Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as exploring the crater involves walking along gentle slopes. The site is perfect for photography, with panoramic views of the crater, silvergrass, and even Hallasan on clear days. Each season offers something different: spring brings blooming wildflowers, summer provides rich greenery, autumn is famous for golden silvergrass, and winter presents quiet snowy landscapes. Visiting early in the morning or late afternoon helps avoid crowds and gives the best light for pictures. Planning about one to two hours at the crater is sufficient to enjoy the scenery fully.

From Jeju City, visitors can take local buses such as lines 710, 710-1, 720, or 720-1, with a ride of roughly 50–60 minutes to the crater entrance. From Seogwipo, buses like 782 or 710-1 take around 90 minutes. For greater flexibility, taxis or rental cars from Jeju Airport or Jeju City take 30–45 minutes, allowing travelers to explore nearby attractions along the way. The routes are well-marked, and local signage helps guide first-time visitors to the parking area and main entrance.
