The Gyeongju Historic Area stretches across the city and is divided into zones such as the Bulguksa and Seokguram area, Tumuli Park, and Wolseong Fortress. Entrance fees vary depending on the specific site; for example, Bulguksa and Seokguram Grotto are ticketed, while Tumuli Park and other open-air sites are free. Most sites provide English signage and audio guides, making it accessible for international travelers. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as exploring the entire area can take several hours.

Visitors should prepare for a lot of walking, especially if planning to see multiple zones in one day. Some temples may have modest dress codes, so covering shoulders and knees is advised. Photography is allowed in most outdoor areas, but certain temple interiors and artifacts may restrict flash photography. Seasonal weather can affect your visit: spring offers cherry blossoms, autumn brings colorful foliage, while summer can be hot and humid. Carry water and sun protection during summer months.

From central Gyeongju, most sites in the Historic Area are easily reachable by local bus, taxi, or even bike. Buses 10, 11, and 700 stop near Bulguksa Temple, while Tumuli Park and Wolseong Fortress are within a 10–15 minute taxi ride from the city center. If you prefer walking, the central downtown area connects to several historical sites within 20–30 minutes on foot. Rental bicycles and guided tours are also popular options for exploring multiple sites efficiently.
