Yakcheonsa Temple

Yakcheonsa Temple is open to visitors year-round and offers free entry, though optional programs like templestays or guided experiences may have separate fees. The temple houses one of the largest wooden Buddha statues in South Korea, and its interior is filled with thousands of miniature Buddha figures and lanterns hanging above, creating a peaceful and awe-inspiring atmosphere. Smaller shrines, a cave hall built into natural rock, a tall bell pavilion, and stone pagodas provide visitors with plenty of areas to explore. Shoes should be removed before entering inner halls, and some areas may be closed during ceremonies. Yakcheonsa Temple is located in Seogwipo, approximately 30 to 40 minutes by car from Jeju City. Driving is the most convenient option, allowing flexibility to explore nearby attractions and enjoy the scenic route along Jeju’s southern coast. Public buses from Jeju City or Seogwipo can bring visitors close to the temple, but a short walk may be required from the nearest stop. Taxis are also a comfortable option for travelers who prefer direct transport, providing a stress-free journey while enjoying the coastal scenery.
