Forestry Park

The park is in the Asa area of Hiroshima, farther from the city center, making it a peaceful alternative to urban sightseeing. There is a small entrance fee for certain zones, such as the forest museum or animal area, while general outdoor spaces may be free. Facilities include toilets, picnic tables, vending machines, and marked walking trails. The environment is mostly natural, so expect more rustic space rather than manicured parklands.

Because of its large size, wearing comfortable shoes is important. Bringing snacks, a picnic, or drinks is recommended, especially for families, since shops inside are limited. The park is perfect for kids, but supervision is necessary around lake edges and trails. Some areas may close during bad weather or maintenance, so checking timing on-site is useful. Expect to spend at least two to three hours if you want to explore comfortably.

From Hiroshima city center, take the JR Kabe Line to Shimo-Gion or another nearby station, then transfer to a local bus that heads toward the Forestry Park area. From Hiroshima Station, total travel time is usually around one hour. Taxis are possible but can be expensive due to the distance, so public transport or rental car is more practical. Parking is available if you choose to drive.
