Fukuromachi Elementary School Peace Museum

The museum is located in central Hiroshima, close to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. It is a small museum that can be visited in a short time, usually around 30 to 45 minutes. Exhibits include photographs, handwritten notes, survivor testimonies, and preserved sections of the school building. Entry is generally free or low-cost, making it accessible for all visitors.

Because it is a smaller and more emotional museum, it is recommended to visit when you have time to reflect and read the stories inside. Some displays include English translations, but not all, so renting an audio guide or preparing basic background information may improve your visit. Photography may be restricted in certain areas.

From Hiroshima Station, take the Hiroshima Electric Railway streetcar toward Hatchobori and then walk about five minutes to the museum. A taxi ride from the station takes around ten minutes. The museum is also within walking distance of Peace Memorial Park, making it easy to include in a walking route.
