Was Sie erwartet

Nanzen-ji is the head temple of the Nanzen-ji branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism and consists of several sub-temples, gardens and halls spread across a large area. Entry to the outer grounds is free, while certain buildings and gardens charge separate admission fees. The Sanmon gate can be climbed for panoramic views of Kyoto. The complex is mostly flat with some steps, making it manageable for most visitors. Allow at least one to two hours to explore comfortably.

Warum diese Tour buchen

Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the temple grounds are extensive and include stone paths. Shoes must be removed when entering indoor halls. Photography is allowed outdoors, but some indoor areas prohibit it. The aqueduct area is popular for photos and can get busy, so patience is helpful. In summer, the area can be humid, while winter can be cold, so dress according to the season. Respectful behavior is expected, as this is an active religious site.

From Kyoto Station, take the subway Karasuma Line to Karasuma-Oike, then transfer to the Tozai Line and get off at Keage Station. From there, Nanzen-ji is about a 10-minute walk. City buses also serve the area, but the subway is often faster and more reliable. If you are already in eastern Kyoto, the temple is easily reached on foot or by bicycle.
