Antoniades Garden

Located in the Smouha and Sidi Gaber area, Antoniades Garden spans a large estate once owned by the wealthy Antoniadis family. The palace and gardens were designed in the 19th century with strong French and Greek influences, similar to small European royal gardens. Today, the grounds feature rare trees, rose gardens, ornamental fountains, and statues depicting mythological figures and historical explorers. The area is managed as a public garden and remains a favorite spot for families, couples, and visitors looking for a peaceful outing.

Some areas of the garden are currently under renovation, but the major landscapes and historic statues remain accessible. Wear comfortable shoes, as the grounds are extensive and involve a lot of walking. Daytime is best for photography, as sunlight highlights the statues and flowerbeds beautifully. While the park is generally safe, it’s quieter in the early morning, making it more enjoyable for relaxed exploration.

From central Alexandria or the Corniche, the easiest way to reach Antoniades Garden is by taxi. Simply ask for “Hadikat Antoniadis” or “Antoniadis Garden” in Smouha. Public minibuses also pass nearby, and Sidi Gaber train station is not far. Once inside, you’ll find wide paths and open lawns that are easy to navigate on foot.
