Montazah Palace Gardens

The Montazah Palace Gardens cover over 370 acres, making it one of the largest green spaces in Alexandria. The palace itself was originally a royal retreat for Egypt's royal family and is now partially open to the public. While the palace is not fully accessible, the gardens are open daily and can be enjoyed free of charge. The gardens also feature a historic lighthouse, a large pool, and several grand bridges, adding to the overall charm of the estate. There are also cafes and small shops within the gardens where visitors can purchase refreshments.

Before heading to Montazah Palace Gardens, it’s important to know that while the gardens are open to the public, parts of the palace are still used by the Egyptian government. Photography is allowed in the gardens, but it’s prohibited in certain areas, especially around the palace. The gardens are typically less crowded than other tourist sites in Alexandria, which offers a more relaxed experience. Be sure to bring water, as it can get hot during the summer months. Also, note that there are some areas where a small entrance fee is charged to access specific sections of the gardens.

The Montazah Palace Gardens are located in the eastern part of Alexandria, about 15 km from the city center. They are easily accessible by taxi, car, or public transportation. The closest tram station is Montazah, which is about a 10-minute walk from the entrance. Alternatively, taxis are a convenient option for visitors coming from central Alexandria or the Corniche area. If you’re staying near the Alexandria Library or the Roman Amphitheatre, a taxi ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes.
