The Bushtracks Express typically operates on Tuesdays and Fridays, though private hire and seasonal runs can occur on other days. The experience lasts approximately four hours, beginning around 5:00 PM and returning by 9:30 PM. As of 2025, the price for the Dinner Run is approximately 215 USD per person. This all-inclusive rate covers luxury return transfers from your hotel, a five-course gourmet meal prepared by the chefs of the Victoria Falls Hotel, and a wide selection of South African wines, beers, and soft drinks. While children are allowed, the activity is generally recommended for those over the age of twelve due to the fine-dining nature of the evening. Because capacity is limited to about 44 guests, booking several weeks in advance is highly suggested.

One of the most important things to remember is that you must bring your passport. Even though you aren't clearing immigration into Zambia, the train stops on the Victoria Falls Bridge, which is a border zone, and your passport is required for identification purposes by security officials. The dress code is "smart casual," so while you don't need a tuxedo, avoid shorts, flip-flops, or sports attire to match the elegant setting. During the winter months from May to August, the temperature can drop quickly once the sun sets, so bringing a warm jacket or wrap is essential. If you have specific dietary requirements, ensure you notify your tour operator at the time of booking, as the five-course menu is a set selection that is meticulously prepared in a specialized kitchen car.

The journey begins at the Victoria Falls Station, which is the oldest building in town and conveniently located near the Victoria Falls Hotel. However, you do not need to worry about finding the station yourself, as the price of your ticket includes luxury return transfers. A shuttle will collect you from your hotel or lodge around 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM and take you directly to the siding for a "red carpet" welcome. Upon arrival at the station, you are greeted with a welcome drink and a brief historical overview of the locomotive. At the end of the evening, the same shuttle service will be waiting at the platform to take you safely back to your accommodation, ensuring a seamless and worry-free experience from start to finish.
