Altındere Valley National Park is located in the Maçka district, about 45 km from Trabzon city center. The main highlight of the park is the Sumela Monastery, recently restored and open to visitors. The national park has designated viewing terraces, picnic areas and walking routes suitable for all fitness levels. Entry to the park requires a small fee, and separate tickets apply for visiting Sumela Monastery. Facilities like cafés, toilets and parking are available near the entrance.
Wear comfortable shoes, as the paths around the valley and the route to the monastery can involve moderate walking. Weather in the area can change suddenly, so carrying a light jacket is useful. The site can get busy during peak summer hours, especially at the monastery entrance, so early arrival is recommended. Drones are not allowed inside the national park, and some sections may close temporarily due to maintenance or safety reasons.
From Trabzon city center, you can reach Altındere Valley National Park by car in about 40–50 minutes. The route goes through the Maçka district and is well signposted.
