Panagia Theoskepastos Monastery

The monastery complex includes a small chapel, carved spaces, restored walkways and viewing terraces. Recently renovated and reopened to the public, it is well-maintained and safe to explore. Entry is either free or low-cost depending on seasonal regulations. The site is compact compared to Sumela, making it an easy stop for travelers who want a shorter monastery visit without leaving the city.

The paths around the monastery include some steps and uneven stone surfaces, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. As it is a historic and religious site, visitors should behave respectfully and avoid touching fragile structures. Photography is allowed, and the location is great for capturing views over Trabzon. Arriving early helps avoid small crowds that gather during peak tourist hours.

Panagia Theoskepastos Monastery is located on Boztepe Hill, just a short distance from Trabzon city center. It can be reached in about 10 minutes by taxi or 20–25 minutes on foot from Meydan Square. Public minibuses heading toward Boztepe also stop nearby, and the final part of the route includes a short uphill walk.
