Wild Life Park

Izmir Wildlife Park sits in the Sasalı-Çiğli district, offering a spacious nature-based experience just outside the city centre. Spread over about 425,000 m², the park features natural-style enclosures where animals live more freely, from giraffes and zebras in a savannah habitat to flamingos in a large pond, monkeys on tree-top islands and kids’ animal zones with goats and rabbits. It’s ideal for families and nature lovers: you stroll through shaded paths, view wild animals in relaxed surroundings, and escape into a green space while still being close to urban İzmir.

Alles über Wild Life Park

Was Sie erwartet

The Wildlife Park opened in November 2008, replacing the older city zoo. It is operated by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria. There are around 1,500-1,800 animals representing over 130 species, and more than 250 plant species as well. The park offers cafés, picnic areas, playgrounds and free parking. Visitors can spend anywhere from 2 to 4 hours depending on pace. It’s a bold choice for a break from beach or city sightseeing in İzmir.

Warum diese Tour buchen

When visiting the park be prepared for some walking: paths are wide but you’ll cover several zones and natural terrain. Bring comfortable shoes and a sun hat if visiting in warmer months. There are restrooms, cafés and baby-friendly facilities, but don’t expect high-end luxury  the emphasis is on nature and space. Note that animals are living on large plots so sometimes you’ll be viewing them from a distance. Feeding of animals is strictly prohibited. Pets are not allowed. It’s a good idea to check the weather and bring water, especially for younger children.

Die richtige Tour auswählen

From İzmir city centre (for example Konak or Alsancak), you can reach the Wildlife Park by taxi or car in about 30 minutes depending on traffic. There are also public bus routes to the Çiğli / Sasalı area; from the stop you may still walk a short distance to the entrance. Parking is available free of charge at the park. Since the site is somewhat outside the main tourist loop, using a rental car or arranging a taxi offers the most flexible experience if you plan to stay for a few hours.

Wissenswertes vor der Abreise

The park is open every day from early morning (typically around 09:00 am) until late afternoon; closing hours depend on the season. The best time of year is spring (April-May) or autumn (September-October), when temperatures are mild and animals are active. During summer midday can be hot and walking longer distances may be tiring for children. Winter visits are possible but light fades earlier and some areas may be cooler. Aim to arrive early to avoid crowds and get the most from the quieter morning hours.
