SS. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral

The SS. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral (Katedrální Chrám Sv. Cyrila a Metoděje) is a Baroque church in Prague with a powerful historical significance. Built in the 1730s, it is a spiritual center for the Orthodox Church in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. However, the cathedral is perhaps best known as the site of the heroic last stand of Czechoslovak resistance fighters during World War II. These men were involved in the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, one of the highest-ranking Nazi officials. Today, the cathedral also serves as a poignant memorial to these heroes, housing the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror.
