We travelled with our teenage daughter and found the balance between big-name temples and quieter rural visits perfect for the whole family. Sunrise at Angkor Wat was quiet and moving, the Bayon faces at Angkor Thom sparked great conversations, and Ta Prohm’s tree roots were the sort of thing kids actually want to explore. Kampong Phluk was gentle and educational — our daughter asked about school and fishing, and the guide answered in a way she understood. The multi-day format meant we weren’t rushed through each site, and the picnic/lunch breaks gave everyone a moment to recharge.

We were a group of four and this multi-day itinerary delivered exactly what we wanted — variety and a steady rhythm. Phnom Kulen’s waterfall and the River of a Thousand Lingas felt both peaceful and historic; the guide pointed out details in the carvings that made the site come alive. Kampong Phluk on Tonle Sap was a real highlight: watching the stilt houses and the fishermen’s routines gave us a much deeper sense of local life than the usual city stops. The days were long but well organized, and the picnic lunches and timely transfers kept everything smooth. Worth doing if you want a mix of nature, culture and rural life without too much rush.

I did this tour alone and left with a lot of good memories — Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm are as impressive as promised, and the early start for sunrise was well worth it. The schedule is full (four days of big highlights), so at times it felt a little packed and I wanted a bit more time at certain temples to sit and take notes. Phnom Kulen and the floating village were insightful additions that showed another side of Cambodia beyond the Angkor sites. Guides were knowledgeable and friendly; just be prepared for several early mornings and a brisk pace.
