The Edinburgh Dungeon

As of 2026, standard adult tickets bought online in advance are approximately £21.00, while walk-up prices are significantly higher at around £26.00. The experience lasts about 70 to 80 minutes and consists of a series of walk-through shows and two underground rides. The Dungeon is located at 31 Market Street, right next to Waverley Station. Opening hours usually start at 11:00 am on weekdays and 10:30 am on weekends, with the last entry between 3:45 pm and 4:45 pm. Due to its popularity, booking a specific time slot online is highly recommended to avoid long queues and ensure your entry.

The experience is designed to be scary and features dark spaces, loud noises, and jump scares, so it is not recommended for young children under the age of 8; those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. For guests with mobility issues, the attraction is mostly accessible, but some areas involve uneven flooring and steep inclines; it is best to contact them in advance to arrange assistance. Photography and filming are strictly prohibited inside the shows to maintain the atmosphere and protect the actors. Be prepared to be part of the show, as the actors often interact with the audience and may even "put you on trial" in the courtroom!

The Edinburgh Dungeon is exceptionally easy to find, situated on Market Street directly across from the main entrance of Edinburgh Waverley Train Station. If you are arriving from the Royal Mile, you can take a short walk down Cockburn Street or the Fleshmarket Close stairs to reach the entrance in about five minutes. Almost all city center bus routes stop at nearby North Bridge or Princes Street, and the nearest tram stop is at St Andrew Square. Since the venue is in a highly congested pedestrian area with no on-site parking, using public transport or walking from your city center hotel is the most practical option.
