Okuz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai

The caravanserai was commissioned by Öküz Mehmed Pasha, a grand vizier of the Ottoman Empire, and served as both an inn and a fortified stop for trade caravans. The building features two levels of arched walkways surrounding a central courtyard. Today, it hosts small shops, cultural events, and sometimes exhibitions. Entry is generally free, and visitors can wander the inner courtyard and corridors at their own pace.

Wear comfortable shoes, as the stone floors and old stairways can be uneven. The site is mostly shaded, making it a pleasant spot even on hot days, but mornings offer the best light for photos. Because it is located in the heart of the town, it can get busier in the afternoon when tour groups arrive. There are cafés and shops around the entrance, so it’s easy to grab a drink before or after exploring.

The caravanserai is located right in Kuşadası city centre, just a short walk from the harbour, marina, and main shopping streets. Most hotels in the central area are within 10–15 minutes on foot. If you're staying slightly outside town, local minibuses and taxis can drop you nearby. Its central position makes it one of the easiest historical sites to reach in Kuşadası.
