The final stretch to the monastery involves a steep and rocky hiking path, so sturdy shoes are essential. Bring water, as there are no vendors nearby. From Fethiye, you can reach Afkule by car in about 25–30 minutes. The route goes through Kayaköy, followed by a rough forest track leading to the trailhead. Taxis can take you to Kayaköy, but for the final road, renting a car or joining a local hiking group works best. There is no public transport directly to the monastery.
Early morning or late afternoon are the most comfortable times to visit, offering cooler temperatures and beautiful light over the sea. Midday sun can be strong, especially in summer. Sunset is particularly stunning, but the return hike should be done before it gets dark.
