Alarahan Caravanserai

The caravanserai is located about 37 kilometres northwest of Alanya, near the village of Okurcalar. The site consists of a large rectangular courtyard surrounded by rooms once used as lodgings, stables, and storage areas. Its striking arched portal, carved with geometric Seljuk motifs, is one of the highlights. There’s a small entry fee, and a café and souvenir shop operate nearby for visitors. The site’s riverside location and mountain backdrop make it both historically interesting and visually stunning.

Wear comfortable shoes, as the stone floors and uneven ground can be slippery. Bring water, especially during summer, since the interior can get warm. The site is partially shaded, but sun protection is still recommended. If you’re interested in photography, the best light hits the courtyard in the morning. Basic amenities are available on-site, and guided tours can sometimes be arranged through local agencies or drivers in Alanya.

From Alanya, follow the D400 highway west toward Okurcalar, then turn inland following signs for Alarahan. The drive takes about 45 minutes. Public minibuses head toward Okurcalar, but for the final stretch to the site a taxi or rental car is more convenient. The caravanserai sits close to Alara Castle, so visitors often explore both attractions in the same trip. Parking is available near the entrance, with short walking paths to the main gate.
