Ras Mohammed National Park covers 480 square kilometers, including both land and sea. The main attractions are its spectacular snorkeling and diving sites, such as Shark Reef, Yolanda Reef, and the magical coral gardens. For those staying on land, the Mangrove Channel and Magic Lake are highlights worth visiting. Entry fees are typically around $5 USD per person, and it’s advised to bring cash as credit cards may not be accepted at the entrance. The park’s facilities are minimal, so come prepared with essentials like water, snacks, and snorkeling gear if not provided on your tour.
Bring Essentials: Sunscreen, hats, water, and reef-friendly snorkeling gear are must-haves.
Respect Nature: Touching corals or disturbing wildlife is strictly forbidden to protect the delicate ecosystem.
Snorkeling Safety: If you’re not a confident swimmer, life jackets are available on most tours.
No Shops on Site: There are no cafes or shops within the park, so pack what you need for the day.
Photography: Capture the beauty of the park but be mindful of guidelines, especially in marine areas.
Reaching Ras Mohammed National Park from Sharm El-Sheikh is easy and convenient. The park is only 30-40 minutes away by car. Visitors can hire taxis, join organized tours, or rent private transfers. Most tourists choose to visit as part of guided snorkeling or diving tours, which include transportation, guides, and equipment. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even rent a bike to explore the area, but the summer heat can be challenging.
The best time to visit Ras Mohammed National Park is during the cooler months from October to April, when temperatures range between 20°C and 28°C, creating perfect conditions for snorkeling, diving, and exploring. Early morning or late afternoon visits are ideal to avoid crowds and experience calmer waters. During summer (May to September), temperatures can exceed 35°C, but the Red Sea remains refreshing for underwater activities. Aim to arrive early in the day for the best visibility and marine life encounters.
