Dong Thien Cung

Dong Thien Cung is located on Dau Go Island, close to the famous Dau Go Cave. It spans over 10,000 square meters and features multiple chambers filled with dramatic rock formations. The cave is well-lit, with strategic lighting highlighting the intricate details of the stalactites and stalagmites. Visitors can follow a winding pathway that takes them through the cave’s most impressive sections, where the formations appear to take the shape of dragons, phoenixes, and legendary figures. Unlike some of Halong Bay’s other caves, Dong Thien Cung is known for its unique height and openness, making it a visually stunning experience.

Dong Thien Cung requires a short but steep climb up stone steps to reach the entrance, so comfortable footwear is recommended. The cave has a well-maintained walking path, but some areas can be slippery, especially after rain. The interior is illuminated, making it easy to see the formations, but the lighting may feel artificial to those who prefer a more natural experience. Since it is one of the most visited caves in Halong Bay, it can get crowded, especially during peak tourist hours. To fully enjoy the cave’s beauty, taking your time to observe the unique formations and learn about the legends behind them enhances the experience.

Dong Thien Cung is accessible only by boat, as part of a Halong Bay cruise or day tour. The cave is located about 4 kilometers from the main pier in Halong City, making it one of the more easily accessible attractions in the bay. Most tours that visit Dong Thien Cung also include stops at Dau Go Cave and other scenic spots. Once your boat arrives at the island, you’ll need to climb a set of stairs to reach the entrance. The climb is short but slightly challenging, so take your time and enjoy the view of the bay along the way.
