Piazza of the Arms

The Piazza of the Arms is located near the main entrance to Kotor’s Old City and is easily accessible from almost anywhere within the town. This open square is flanked by notable buildings, including the Venetian-style Gothic Palace and the Bastion, a 16th-century military fortification that once protected the city. The square is a great spot to relax and people-watch, with numerous cafes and restaurants offering outdoor seating where you can enjoy local delicacies. The architecture surrounding the square is a beautiful mix of Venetian and medieval influences, adding to the historical charm of the area.

The Piazza of the Arms is a public space, so there’s no entry fee to visit, making it an easy and enjoyable stop during your exploration of Kotor. However, if you plan to sit at one of the cafes, expect to pay for food or drinks. The square is often used for events and performances, so if you're lucky, you might catch a local festival or live music. As with most parts of Kotor, the square can get quite busy, especially in the summer, so if you’re looking for a quieter visit, consider going early in the morning or later in the evening when the crowds have thinned out.

Getting to the Piazza of the Arms is simple, as it’s located right in the heart of Kotor’s Old City. If you’re already staying within the city, just head toward the main square from any of the city’s streets or gates. The square is near the Sea Gate, the main entrance to the Old City, making it an easy starting point for exploring other attractions in the area. Once you enter the Old City, the square will be visible, and it’s a short walk from many of Kotor’s famous landmarks, such as St. Tryphon Cathedral and the Maritime Museum.
