Tien Son Cave

Tien Son Cave, also known as the "Heavenly Son Cave," is relatively accessible compared to other caves in the Phong Nha region. The cave is approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) from the main entrance of Phong Nha Cave, which is known for its large scale and boat tours. Tien Son Cave, in contrast, is more intimate and can be explored on foot. Visitors will encounter various formations such as massive stalactites, crystal-clear ponds, and an array of fascinating mineral structures. A short walk through the cave's main chamber leads to a stunning underground lake, adding to the allure of this hidden gem.

Before visiting Tien Son Cave, be aware that the cave can be physically demanding, especially if you are exploring on foot. The hike to the cave involves climbing some steep terrain, so be sure to wear comfortable footwear, preferably hiking boots, to ensure a safe journey. Also, pack light but bring essentials such as water, a flashlight, and a camera. The cave is well-lit in most areas, but some parts can be dim, so extra light is handy. It’s also important to carry insect repellent as the surrounding jungle can have mosquitoes.

Tien Son Cave is located around 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Dong Hoi city center, making it easily accessible by car or motorbike. The quickest way to reach the cave is by driving from Dong Hoi to the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park. From the park entrance, you’ll need to trek approximately 2 kilometers to reach the cave. If you prefer not to drive, you can also book a tour from Dong Hoi, which typically includes transportation to and from the cave, making the journey hassle-free.
