Ciutadella Park

Ciutadella Park offers a variety of attractions. At the entrance to the park, you’ll find the Cascada Monumental, a grand waterfall designed by architect Josep Fontserè and later embellished by Antoni Gaudí. The Barcelona Zoo, home to more than 2,000 animals from around the world, is another popular attraction, especially for families. The park also features the Castell dels Tres Dragons (Castle of the Three Dragons), a historic building that now houses the Museu de la Ciutadella. For a relaxing experience, visitors can rent boats to row on the park’s small lake or simply relax in the many gardens and green spaces.

Ciutadella Park is generally very crowded on weekends, especially in the warmer months, as it’s a favorite spot for locals. For a quieter experience, consider visiting early in the morning or on a weekday. The park is also a great place for outdoor activities, so bring comfortable shoes if you plan to explore the trails, or enjoy a leisurely walk through the botanical gardens. If you're visiting with kids, the zoo is a must, but do check in advance for opening hours and special events.

Ciutadella Park is centrally located and easily accessible by public transport. The Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica Metro station (Line 4, Yellow Line) is just a short walk from the park. Alternatively, you can take Bus 45, 51, or 59, which stop nearby. If you’re staying in the Gothic Quarter or El Born, the park is within walking distance and provides a lovely route to explore. Biking is also a great way to reach the park, with many rental options available around the city.
