The travertines of Pamukkale, or the "Cotton Castle," are one of Turkey’s most extraordinary natural attractions. These dazzling white terraces are formed by mineral-rich thermal waters cascading down the hillside, creating a series of pools and ridges. The warm, therapeutic waters have drawn visitors for centuries, and today, the travertines are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking barefoot on the terraces and dipping your feet in the shallow pools is a unique and relaxing experience.

Location: The travertines are the centerpiece of Pamukkale, easily accessible from the town and part of the larger Pamukkale-Hierapolis site.
Highlights: Stroll along the terraces, admire the glistening white formations, and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding valley. The experience is both serene and surreal.
Entry Fee: Access to the travertines is included in the general ticket for Pamukkale and Hierapolis.
Footwear: Shoes are not allowed on the travertines to protect the delicate formations, so be prepared to walk barefoot.
What to Bring: Wear comfortable clothes, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Carry a bag for your shoes and bring water for hydration.
The travertines are within walking distance of Pamukkale town. From the main entrance, visitors can ascend through the terraces to explore the formations and reach Hierapolis at the top. Shuttle services and guided tours are also available.
The travertines are open year-round, but spring (April-June) and autumn (September-November) offer the best weather. Visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid crowds and enjoy the golden light reflecting off the terraces.
