Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track

The Sarajevo Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track is situated on the Trebević Mountain, about 9 kilometers from Sarajevo’s city center. The track, which was designed to host international winter sports competitions, is now overgrown with vegetation, giving it a haunting, post-apocalyptic feel. Despite its deterioration, visitors can still walk or hike along the track, explore its various sections, and take in the incredible views of Sarajevo. Some visitors even attempt to cycle or ride down the track, though it’s not maintained for such use.

The track is free to visit, but be aware that it’s located on a mountain, so the path can be steep and slippery in places. Wear sturdy shoes, especially if you’re planning to explore the full track. The site isn’t regularly maintained, so caution is advised if you plan to walk along the track. While the site is safe, it can be eerie with its abandoned feel and remnants of the Olympic past, making it an especially interesting spot for photography enthusiasts.

To get to the Sarajevo Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track, you can take a taxi or public transportation to the base of Trebević Mountain. From there, the track is accessible via a steep hike, which takes about 30–40 minutes depending on your pace. Alternatively, you can drive up the mountain, though roads may be challenging in winter or bad weather. For a more adventurous route, many people hike up or take a bike, enjoying the scenic views along the way.
