The park is open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with entry fees of approximately $43 for non-resident adults and $22 for children. Residents enjoy reduced rates. You can explore the park in a private or guided safari vehicle, as walking within the park is not permitted for safety reasons. Don’t forget to bring a camera, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
Pack light but smart, ensuring you have comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes. Early mornings and evenings are the best times to spot wildlife, so plan accordingly. Booking tickets and safaris in advance is advisable, especially during peak tourist seasons. Binoculars and a guidebook can enhance your experience, and remember, feeding or disturbing animals is strictly prohibited.
The park is just 7 kilometers from Nairobi’s city center, accessible via Langata Road. Public transport options like matatus or private taxis can take you to the park gate. If you prefer convenience, many tour operators in Nairobi offer transportation and guided tours.
The dry seasons from June to October and January to February are ideal for wildlife viewing as animals gather around waterholes. Morning visits offer cool weather and active wildlife, while evening game drives provide stunning sunsets.
