Mt. Gubałówka is approximately 110 km from Krakow and is a top attraction in Zakopane, the “Winter Capital of Poland.” The site is accessible by a funicular railway that departs from Zakopane’s town center. Tickets for the funicular are available at the station or online. The mountain is family-friendly and offers activities suitable for all ages. There’s no entrance fee for the mountain itself, though fees apply for certain attractions and the funicular ride.
Dress in layers, as the weather in the mountains can change quickly. Comfortable footwear is essential if you plan to hike. Be prepared for crowds during peak tourist seasons, especially in summer and winter. Bring cash for local stalls and activities, as card payments may not always be accepted. Additionally, check the operating schedule of the funicular before your visit.
From Krakow, take a bus or train to Zakopane, a journey of about 2–3 hours. From Zakopane’s main station, it’s a short walk to the Gubałówka funicular station. Alternatively, you can drive to Zakopane, with ample parking available near the town center.
Mt. Gubałówka can be visited year-round, with different activities depending on the season. Summer months (June to September) are ideal for hiking and enjoying clear views, while winter (December to February) is perfect for snow sports. Arrive early in the day to avoid crowds and make the most of your visit.
