Konavle Valley

Konavle covers an area of about 209 square kilometers and includes several charming villages, the most notable being Cavtat, a historic coastal town, and Čilipi, known for its traditional folklore performances. The valley is famous for its wine production, particularly Maraština and Malvasija grape varieties. Local farms offer homemade delicacies such as olive oil, cheese, honey, and cured meats. Hiking, cycling, and horseback riding are popular activities in the valley, thanks to its scenic trails and unspoiled nature.

If you visit Čilipi on a Sunday, you can watch a traditional folk dance performance in the village square after the morning mass.

Konavle Valley is located about 20 km south of Dubrovnik and is easily accessible by car. The drive takes approximately 30 minutes along a scenic coastal road. Buses run regularly between Dubrovnik and Cavtat, and from there, you can take a taxi or bike to explore the valley. For a more immersive experience, some guided tours from Dubrovnik include visits to local farms, wineries, and traditional villages.
