Established in 1981, Ao Phang Nga National Park covers over 400 square kilometers of land and sea. It features more than 40 islands, each with its own distinct charm. The park is a protected area, meaning its pristine beauty is carefully preserved. Entrance fees are approximately 300 THB for adults and 150 THB for children. Kayaking, boat tours, and snorkeling are popular activities. The park is family-friendly and offers something for all ages, from serene boat rides to adventurous cave explorations.
Pack essentials like sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes, as you'll likely explore both land and water. Bring a waterproof bag for valuables since many tours involve kayaking or boat rides. If you're visiting caves, a flashlight may come in handy. While there are small shops and eateries in Koh Panyee, carrying snacks and water is advisable. Don’t forget your camera to capture the stunning landscapes!
Ao Phang Nga National Park is about 90 kilometers from Phuket, making it a convenient day-trip destination. You can join an organized tour from Phuket, which usually includes hotel transfers and a guided boat tour. Alternatively, hire a private car to Ao Phang Nga pier in Phang Nga town and take a boat from there. Public buses also run from Phuket to Phang Nga town, though the journey may take longer.
The best time to visit Ao Phang Nga National Park is during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is sunny and the sea is calm. Avoid the monsoon season (May to October), as heavy rains can disrupt boat trips and make the waters rough. Early mornings or late afternoons are ideal to avoid crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures, providing a more serene experience.
