Yongmeori Coast

Yongmeori Coast is one of the most striking natural landscapes on Jeju Island. Located on the island’s southwestern coast near Sanbangsan Mountain, this dramatic shoreline looks like a giant dragon diving into the sea. The name literally means “dragon head coast” in Korean. Over millions of years, wind, waves, and volcanic activity carved the layered sandstone cliffs into curved shapes that stretch along the water’s edge. Visitors can walk along the rocky path at the base of the cliffs and admire the unique rock formations, sea caves, and tide pools. The scenery is especially impressive when waves crash against the layered cliffs, creating one of the most photogenic coastal landscapes in Jeju.

Warum diese Tour buchen

Before planning your visit to Yongmeori Coast, it is important to check the tide schedule. The coastal path is only accessible during low tide and may close during high waves or bad weather for safety reasons. In fact, the area is sometimes open only part of the year due to sea conditions. Wear comfortable shoes because the trail consists of uneven rocks and natural stone surfaces. Bringing sunscreen, a hat, and a light jacket is also recommended since the coastline can be windy. Visitors should stay on designated paths to protect the fragile rock formations and coastal environment.

Wissenswertes vor der Abreise

The best time to visit Yongmeori Coast is during low tide on a clear day when the coastal trail is open. Morning visits are often recommended because sea conditions are usually calmer and the site is less crowded. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable weather, while summer provides dramatic ocean views but can be hotter. Because access depends on tides and weather, it is wise to check the daily opening status before heading to the site.
